I went with him being Prime's corpse just reanimated by the surrounding armour. He went charcoal upon his death in the Movie, I just figured he further desiccated and ended up bleached - especially as my Magnus had no other paint except the silver accents.

I was ferociously practical as a teen.

This got REALLY complicated when Power master Op turned up and it was clear he actually was the resurrection of the Prime.

And then the internet happens and everything gets explained to my huge disappointment - especially finding out we could have gotten that beautiful blue and black deco but we got Bleachy instead.

Delta Magnus forever!!

Strong rumours of a Missing Link Magnus on the way - odds-on they'd do a Delta version at some point too...

For most of my life I have had a recurring dream of owning the original Ultra Magnus toy and playing with him, transforming him back and forth, and all that.

(I had Prime, but I never had UM. My friend Gareth did, so I played with him now and then. The memories of which no doubt fed the dream.)

Every morning, with gut wrenching inevitability, I would wake up from this exceptionally vivid dream to discover that no, in fact I did not own UM.

A couple of years ago I picked up Kingdom* UM, and now, after four decades, those horrible dreams have stopped.

Anyway, that's my UM story.

*Kingdom because it was the first version where the Internal Optimus had a "proper" transformation, like the original, with no fake hidden chests or other misdirection. Such weird pickiness is probably not unknown in TF fandom.

Well I never... I owned Ultra Magnus (I later realised that he was way less cool that Optimus Prime) and I remember being vaguely bemused by the mysterious white robot inside him.

The other mystery about UM is why - at least in the cartoon - Optimus Prime's trailer just vanishes when he transforms, but Ultra Magnus' robot form encompasses all of his vehicle form... and their robot forms are the same size. I remember this irritated me as a child!
